Service: Pump Scope Calibration Verification Procdure
How is the calibration on syringe pumps verified
All syringe pumps that we build go through a ‘fast’ calibration verification test as part of our Quality control process, and we also offer a more thorough calibration verification, which tests the pumps at several flow rates.
The procedure:
We measure flow accuracy the same way as with all of our pumps: We set the pump to run at a particular flow rate, and then we use our Pump Scope to measure the instantaneous position of the pusher block at a set frequency. From that data (and the set syringe diameter), we calculate a flow rate. We average that over the course of the entire lead screw and compare that to the flow rate set on the pump. This gives us the flow rate accuracy. We also use this instantaneous position data to calculate a Residual Standard Deviation, which gives us a measure of the pulsatility of the pump.
